Katsuo-ji, located in Minoo, is a Shingon Buddhist temple founded in 627 AD, with Eleven-faced Kannon as the principal image. Famous for granting 'victory fortune,' it is called 'Temple of Victory' and has been deeply revered by warriors, athletes, students and entrepreneurs since ancient times. The grounds are filled with tens of thousands of 'victory daruma' dolls dedicated by believers. Built on a mountainside, the temple offers cherry blossoms in spring, hydrangeas in summer and maple foliage in autumn, making it the most mountainous spiritual power spot in northern Osaka. The autumn Maple Festival and monthly Goma prayer services are popular events.

The distillery is located at Yamazaki on the border of Osaka and Kyoto prefectures, with Yamazaki spring water from 'Japan's 100 Famous Waters,' bamboo forests and the humid climate at the confluence of the Katsura, Uji and Kizu rivers, creating an ideal environment for whisky maturation. Tours cover distillation, maturation and blending, with tastings of Yamazaki 12-year, 18-year and Hibiki 21-year. Reservations are required, making it a must-visit mecca for whisky lovers.

Mount Ikoma, on the border of Higashi-Osaka and Nara's Ikoma city, is the highest peak of the Ikoma range at 642 meters. Near the summit, the Ikoma Sanjo Amusement Park (opened 1929), one of Japan's oldest amusement parks, is accessible by cable car and offers a park train, carousel, summer wading pool and a high-altitude observation cafe. The summit observatory offers 360-degree views of the Osaka plain, Kyoto, Kobe and Awaji Island. Along the way are Hozan-ji Temple, Yuge Falls and other landmarks, making it a representative mountain destination for family hiking and night views in Kansai.

Designed by master architect Tadao Ando, the museum is adjacent to Shiba's former residence. The interior displays the writer's original study, manuscripts, library and travel materials, with the iconic three-story bookshelf holding about 20,000 volumes for a stunning visual impact. With rich light and shadow variations, Ando uses exposed concrete and glass to create a serene space as if in dialogue with the author.
