Beihai Tunnel in Nangan Township, Lienchiang County, is an underground dock carved out during Matsu's wartime era for warship mooring and air defense. It runs approximately 640-700 meters, with the waterway 18 meters high and 10 meters wide, designed in a tic-tac-toe grid pattern and excavated entirely by soldiers' manual labor. Now open to tourists, visitors can walk along the interior path, admire the chisel marks on the rock walls and the clear water, and take a traditional rowboat or kayak for on-water sightseeing. Because the tunnel connects directly to the sea, entry is only possible at low tide; at high tide the entire passage is submerged. The site is also a popular nighttime spot for viewing Nangan's blue tears, blending historical education with natural wonder, making it a must-visit for families, history buffs, and nature lovers.
